Honey Lavender

Drink Special: Spring Americano by Caleb Savage

It’s Spring time in Oklahoma City! Main Street is turning green, meetings beginning at the shop are headed to the Myriad Gardens or Centennial Park, Bradford Pears are bringing the masses to their knees.

Honey Lavender Lattes have become a Spring favorite and will stay on the bar all month long. #SecretMenu tip: add Honey Lavender to an Espresso Cream Soda for an afternoon treat!

SPRING AMERICANO

Americanos are a staple for most people, but once the weather starts heating up, they start to fall out of favor. Iced americanos are great and they’re available every day in the cafe, but for our April drink special, we decided to put all of the best qualities of espresso and turn it into a drink!

Our Spring Americano is a sparkling iced americano made with a lemon and brown sugar syrup and topped with fresh mint! This drink accentuates what we love about great espresso: bright acidity, delicate florals, and a deep and rich sweetness! Mixed with sparkling water, this drink creates a foamy and refreshing Springtime treat!

This special will be available all month long so stop in on a sunny afternoon and give it a try!

Carrot Cake Latte by Steve Willingham

A new month means new specials! While we're sad to see the Lemon Chili Mocha is gone, it's exciting to have new things. And don't worry; the Honey Lavender Latte hasn't gone anywhere!

This month, alongside the Honey Lavender, we're featuring a series of Sparkling Tea Lemonades. Traditionally a blend of black tea and lemonade, our series starts there and branches out to include our Cold Brew Lemonade and a Rooibos Tea Lemonade. They're all made with Alta Palla's sparkling lemonade, and they're so refreshing!

And the star of this month's Specials board is the Carrot Cake Latte. This is Tanner's latest invention - look out for lots of Tanner inventions over the next month...

The Carrot Cake Latte starts with juicing fresh carrots and using the juice to make a brown sugar simple syrup. We then spice it with ginger, almond and vanilla extract, and a variety of baking spices. It gives it that cake flavor and an increasing carrot presence as you drink it down.

This is one we're really proud of. Can't wait to hear what everyone thinks of it! Let us know!

See you soon at Clarity for a Carrot Cake Latte, a Sparkling Tea Lemonade, or a Honey Lavender Latte. Cheers!

Lemon Chili Mocha by Caleb Savage

As the season for Blood Oranges comes to a close and we say goodbye to sweet citrus goodness of the Blood Orange Latte, we welcome back an old favorite, the Honey Lavender Latte!

It's also time to bring a brand new special to the board, the Lemon Chili Mocha. Made with Nathan Miller Chocolate, crushed Aleppo peppers, a little cinnamon, and a hint of lemon, this drink special combines all the things we love about coffee: bright acidity, a clear sweetness, and smooth lower notes.

Heat + Sweet

Finding a balance between a pepper with enough heat to come through in the drink without being considered too hot can be difficult. Moreover, each pepper, like coffee, has its own flavor characteristics based on its genetics and the location in which the pepper is grown. For this drink, we looked for a pepper that would have an approachable heat but would also bring out the complexity of the chocolate and the espresso.

Grown in Northern Syria and Turkey, the Aleppo Pepper is similar to a Ancho Chile, commonly known as a Poblano, found and cultivated in Puebla, Mexico. The Aleppo pepper adds savory notes of cumin, red pepper, and salt. While most of the heat is balanced with the chocolate and lemon, dairy milk naturally lessens the intensity of the pepper. For our alternative milk friends, we recommend using a milk with a little more sweetness like Coconut Milk!

A Hint of Lemon

To finish the drink, we include lemon to accentuate the heat of the pepper with a bright, sweet citrus note that reminds us of a lemon drop. In a way, this latte is familiar like chocolate covered oranges or a spiced hot chocolate, but all together, the ingredients add an interesting complexity and a subtle savoriness not found in most lattes.

We always hate to say goodbye to the Blood Orange Latte, but we’re excited to bring you March's specials! Give them a try next time your in the shop!

NEW SPECIAL FOR APRIL: CARDAMOM ROSE LATTE by Steve Willingham

April's specials are in, and they are a perfect fit for Spring. SB created the new Cardamom Rose Latte to fit right in next to the Honey Lavender Latte. That's right. The Honey Lavender Latte isn't going anywhere. We're keeping it on for April.

The new drink is a another house made syrup made of only natural ingredients, like all the others. We source our cardamom pods from Native Roots Market in Deep Deuce and our rose buds from Savory Spice on Western. These are steeped like a tea in a simple syrup until the syrup takes on the flavors and aromatics of the other ingredients, then the insoluble bits are filtered out.

We're adding this syrup to espresso and milk to make our Cardamom Rose Latte, either hot or cold.

If you want to mix up your Honey Lavender options, try it iced or in a hot chocolate. They are both delicious options.

Can't wait to have you by to try out our newest concoction!
