There are still three weeks of summer, but September always makes us think fall. That's how we decided to approach September's new special: The Turmeric Latte
We didn't invent turmeric lattes by any means. In fact, haldi ka doodh or "golden milk" has been around for literally thousands of years. The credit for inventing what we now call turmeric lattes usually goes to an ancient branch of medicine in India called Ayurveda. Turmeric is hailed for its anti-inflammatory properties, its abundance of antioxidants, and curcumin, the chemical that gives turmeric its bright yellow color and also helps immune cell function.
We decided to add a few accents to the turmeric latte: vanilla, cinnamon, and ginger. These help balance out the strong, distinct flavor from the turmeric itself. Then we sweeten it just a bit with sugar and mix it all together with milk. The result is a nice balance of sweet and spicy that is delicious by itself or with espresso.
We're sad to see our summery drinks go, but it's exciting to be moving into fall. If you're not ready yet, we will have Maple Pecan Cold Brew for a few more days, and I'll let you in on a little secret: Espresso Cream Sodas are always available.
